Genesis Flight College was looking for a flexible Flight Management System Trainer (FMST) solution to provide students in their Airline Cadet Program smoother jet transition experience, gauge students’ automation knowledge prior to a full-flight phase and increase full-flight simulator efficiency.
After surveying available products on the market, Genesis decided to partner with SimViz Labs. SimViz Labs acted as a strategic advisor and technology partner, embedding digitalized, on demand FMS training tool into Genesis’s Airline Cadet Program.
The new embedded tool had immediate measurable impact on instructor workload and student outcomes. Instructor workload was significantly reduced, especially when it comes to the CDU programming sequence.
Genesis achieved 100% improvement in student retention. Hands-on training on a laptop or an iPad gave students the ability to learn at their own pace. Mistakes were easily corrected. In the classroom setting, with everyone participating, students were more motivated to learn. According to Genesis instructors, repetition is a key component in correctly entering data. Students built confidence through independent practice at their own pace. The FMST tool also allowed students to load the whole route from start to finish using the company’s Operational Flight Plan, a feature instructors called “invaluable”.
